24 Bible quotes that help you to stop being lazy

Bible verses about laziness help you to overcome it

Most of us may find ourselves at least a little lazy. There is nothing wrong with taking a break and resting after a long day of work, lying down and meditating on the past day. But if we know we should have been elsewhere, perhaps the Spirit is prompting us to do something and we continue to be passive, indifferently ignoring those exhortations, then we need exhortation, “Go to the ant, you lazy man, look at his deeds, and become wise.”

Of course, there may be various reasons why we cannot be active, perhaps there are certain things that limit our ability to act. God knows how much we can bear. He does not entrust us with a task that we cannot do, but it is still an important difference between understanding our limitations and underestimating God’s abilities — what God can do through us if we want to!

Let these verses from the scriptures remain in your memory that the next time you are tempted to keep lying on the couch, knowing that you could have done better with this time by choosing the “Get Out of Comfort” zone instead of “Comfort for Flesh” zone – you can use these verses as a weapon against laziness and against sin, which over time has stolen enough valuable time from people!

Motivation to act

Room. 6: 11-14
“Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign as king in your mortal body, that ye should obey his lusts. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as unto them that are dead. living, and their members as weapons of righteousness to God. Because sin no longer rules over you because you are not By law, but by grace. ”

Believing that we are dead to sin is a decision we make so that our bodies no longer serve sin! And when we are tempted, we are reminded of our decision. This decision has nothing to do with our feelings!

Gal. 2:20
“I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. And what I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ”

Heeb. 3:15
“Today, when you hear His voice, do not harden your heart as in a murmur.”

1 Cor. 9: 24-27
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.. ”

Motivation to work hard on everything no matter what you do

Col. 3: 23-24
“Whatsoever ye do, do it with all your soul, as unto the Lord, and not as unto men; knowing that ye shall receive a portion of the Lord’s inheritance. Serve the Lord Christ! ”

Ecclesiastes  9:10
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.”

Luke 16:10
““Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much..”

Heb. 6: 11-12
We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised..”

Fil. 2: 12-13
“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not so much as when I am present, but more firmly now in my absence; prepare for salvation with fear and trembling! For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. ”

A reminder of why God gave us the body

1 Cor. 6: 19-20
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;  you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Ro. 12: 1-2
“Now, brethren, I beseech you, that by the great mercy of God, that ye should offer your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God; let it be your wise worship. And be not conformed to the present world;

Heb. 10: 5-7
Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, ‘Here I am—it is written about me in the scroll— I have come to do your will, my God.’”

What does the Bible say about laziness?

Proverbs 6: 6-11

Go to the ant, you sluggard;consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

Jer. 48:10
“Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord, and cursed be he that keepeth his sword from blood.”

If, for some reason, a warrior, while on the battlefield, will not use his sword to fight the enemy, sooner or later the enemy will defeat him. As God’s soldiers, we are called to fight sin in our flesh. If we do not want to suffer or reject the demands of our lusts, we will succumb to temptation and give in to the desires of the flesh.

Proverbs 10: 4-5
“The lazy hand brings poverty, but the hands of the wise make rich. A wise son gathers in the summer, but a son who sleeps during the harvest shames. ”

Proverbs 14:23
All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

Proverbs 19:15
Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the shiftless go hungry.

Proverbs 18: 9
“Even he who is sluggish in his work is the brother of the destroyer.”

1 Tim. 5: 8
“Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

James 4:14
“… You who do not know what your life will be like tomorrow! You are the steam you see for a moment, and then it evaporates. ”

John 9: 4
“As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. ”

2 Cor. 6: 2
“Look, now is the time! Behold, now is the day of salvation! ”

Ephesians 5: 15-16
“Take heed therefore how ye live: not as a fool, but as a wise man, using the time well, for the days are evil.”

Rom. 13: 11-14
“And do this, knowing the time: it is the hour to awaken from sleep, for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is coming to an end and the day is near. Let us lay down therefore the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us live in harmony as during the day, not in hanging out in drunkenness, and in lust, and in desolation, and in envy,y: but put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill lust. ”
