A Russian Baptist was recognized as a political prisoner – he was given 2.5 years in prison for refusing to go to the front

Russian human rights activists recognized 23-year-old Baptist Vyacheslav Reznichenko from the village of Zarubino in Primorye as a political prisoner, reports the Christian Megaportal inVictory with reference to Christians Against War.

In September 2022, the young man was called up for mobilization, immediately declared his religious convictions and refusal to go to the war zone in Ukraine, but he was still included in the ranks of the mobilized. He refused to sign a contract and take part in hostilities due to religious beliefs.

A criminal case was initiated against him. 5 court hearings were held, and as a result, Vyacheslav Reznichenko was sentenced to 2 and a half years in a penal colony.

We previously wrote that three Russian pastors of the “New Generation” – Nikolai Ulitin, Svyatoslav Yugov and Nikolai Bogoslavsky – were recognized as political prisoners.
