“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him. It will be good for those servants whose master finds them watching when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve, will have them recline at the table and will come and wait on them. (Luke 12:35-37).
When will the Master come? When will He come to change the circumstances we’re in? When will He finally intervene? When will the Almighty stretch out His mighty right hand and everything will change? The prophet Isaiah says:
“… Someone calls to me from Seir, “Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?” The watchman replies, “Morning is coming, but also the night. If you would ask, then ask; and come back yet again.” (Isaiah 21:11-12).
Friends, it is very important that we stay awake at this night time, when we long for the morning to finally come, for the sun of truth to shine and disperse the remnants of darkness, and the glory of the Lord has come. When we long for everything dark to dissipate so that we can triumph with the returned Master. That time is approaching, but not yet, and we don’t know exactly when it will be. But the Lord thus tests our faith, our love for Him, our trust in Him, our confidence that He does not leave us even for a second.
And thus the Lord transforms this abnormal reality that is around us, and God’s breakthrough is born from within us. God’s breakthrough is coming! And I want to tell you that from our personal fellowship with our Father, from how ready we are to accept His uncompromising love and see ourselves as He sees us, and not resign to what He does not reconcile with – from this depends on when the general breakthrough comes. This is a wonderful encouragement! It turns out that in each of us there is a living resource of a holy breakthrough for everyone! Each of us, it turns out, can make such a contribution to this common treasury. And it depends on each of these mites when the treasures will finally fill and overflow the vault, and it will turn over and spill out, and the Angels will pour out a golden rain on all of us!
The Lord knows why He often does not give the exact timing of the breakthrough and does not say: “So, now is such and such a time of night, after so many days the morning will come and the darkness will finally dissipate. And you will wake up after a nightmare and you will see how wonderful everything is. So get ready for that day.” The Lord wants us to trust Him, not necessarily knowing how long the night is and when exactly the morning will come. He wants us to be alert every day, not just at certain times.
