I heard that Christianity is hands outstretched to heaven, from which immeasurable grace is pouring.
I thought Christianity meant the careless enjoyment of God’s love.
Some have told me that Christianity is health, it is wealth, it is success. It is the absence of suffering.
But recently I read the words of Jesus: “For I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you did not give Me drink; I was a stranger and you did not receive Me; I was naked and you did not clothe Me; sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.”
It turns out that Christ today is represented on earth in crippled, hungry, homeless, sick and persecuted martyrs?!
It turns out that where there is a glimmer of wealth, where tables are bursting with food, where the groans of the sick and humiliated are not heard, there is no Christ.
Not even close. Christ says: “Truly I say to you, because you did not do this to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.” “Depart from Me, you cursed, into eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”
That’s grace!
Looks like I’ve been deceived. Christ is not at all in brilliant clothes! Christ is in rags, Christ is in the guise of homeless people, Christ is in prisoner’s handcuffs?! Before it’s too late, we need to fix it.
This is why the old people taught us: “Hurry to do good!”
