Evangelist Franklin Graham said that his father, world-renowned preacher Billy Graham, has one Bible verse that is written in large letters and posted all over the house. He calls it “the verse of his whole life”.
“This verse hangs on the wall of his bedroom, it is printed in VERY large letters. You can find it in the dining room, in the bathroom, and several other places! On his 95th birthday, Billy Graham worked on a sermon based on this Scripture. With this verse he saturates his mind and heart,” the preacher’s son Franklin Graham wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
This great verse for us is recorded in Galatians 6:14: “But I do not want to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world was crucified for me, and I for the world.”
In January 2013, Billy Graham’s website noted that the evangelist named John 3:16 as his favorite Bible verse back in 1995: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in Him would not perish, but have eternal life. ” He said that he always uses this verse in evangelistic meetings. “The verse consists of only 21 words in translation, but in essence it is a condensed Gospel. Someone called it a miniature Bible, ”Graham said.
He also encouraged Christians to make an effort to understand the Bible, which he says is more important than any other book.
Offering advice on how to start a Bible study, he said in 2016 that it is best to start with reading the Gospel of John.
“I suggest you start from the center, from the focal point of the Bible, which is Jesus Christ. The entire Old Testament points to Him, the entire New Testament talks about Him. He came down from Heaven to forgive us and make us part of His family forever, through the Bible we reveal this great truth, “wrote Graham, adding a reference to John 20:31, which says that the Holy Book was written “so that you believe, that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and, believing, had life in His name. “
