Former chairman of the Sumy military administration on the liberation of the Sumy region from occupation and the power of prayer

(OVA) Dmitry Zhivitsky, in an interview with Radio Liberty, recalled the events of a year ago, about the liberation of the Sumy region, when Russian troops left, and the region was freed from occupation. He noted that when they did not know what to do, they asked for prayer, according to Christian Megaportal inVictory.

“Like the Kiev region, the Sumy region became a theater of hostilities, because Russian troops tried to break through to Poltava and Kharkov from the territory of the region. But there was one difference – there were almost no regular troops in the Sumy region. The Sumy region, like the Kiev and Chernihiv regions, was one of the directions of the enemy offensive. However, the occupiers got stuck here,” Zhivitsky said.

“In total, about 10 thousand people were involved in the resistance in the region. These are those who took weapons, who had Molotov cocktails. There were partisans, there were groups that were not coordinated at all by anyone. Therefore, there was a certain risk: when, for example, the creation of humanitarian corridors was announced, then in some village people could blow up an enemy armored personnel carrier and disrupt the evacuation of people. There were provocations when tanks and armored personnel carriers drove out. There was also a time when, frankly, we no longer knew what to do. And then we called Protestant pastors and asked them to pray. Fortunately, there were no casualties during the evacuation, and we were able to take out about 85,000 people,” Dmitry shared. ” And on April 6, Russian troops completely left the region, ending the military occupation in the region. We are grateful to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, our territorial defense, our people who rallied, supported each other, we are grateful to the heads of communities and their teams.”
