If we walk in the light. Fellowship in the Body of Jesus Christ. It is love in the Spirit that is the binding force of the body of Christ on earth.
“But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” John 1:7.
Fellowship in the Body of Christ
If we’re walking in the light, then we have fellowship with one another, and then we’re all right. Then satan is crushed under our feet, and love rules everything.
However, great vigilance is required to maintain fellowship in the Spirit, light and love. A little envy, a little suspicion of a brother, a little ill will or slanderous words is enough to set satan free. He will take care to destroy this good atmosphere. Therefore, each of us should strive to keep satan under our feet. Then the God of peace will crush satan under the feet of the Church (Body of Christ). (Rom. 16:20.)
A lot of things could be said about this, which is difficult to write about, but when each of us strives to keep the commandments of Christ purely and without reproach (1 Tim. 6:14), then this becomes the “Siegfried line” in the battle against the forces of evil.
The commandments of Christ and the crucified flesh through faithfulness and love for the Father and the Son in the power of the Holy Spirit will lead us to indestructible unity in the body of Christ. This is the Church, “from which the whole body, composed and copulated by means of all mutually binding bonds, with the action of each member in its measure, receives an increase for the building up of itself in love.” Ephesus 4:16.
One member is not the body, but the body is made up of many members. God created the body in the way that He pleased, so that through each other we would learn to endure each other and receive the help that Christ, by grace and gifts, sends to each in His own measure for internal edification.
Laws of the Body of Christ
However, when satan comes, there is division. The inner help given by each member, as a result of satanic work, is shattered and the body loses its balance. This can be avoided if every member of the body chooses to suffer and not sin. In five minutes, a person can say so much evil that even five years will not be able to heal broken communication and restore trust in relationships.
Christian congregations that are not familiar with this glorious fellowship in the Spirit are also not familiar with the holy laws at work in the body, because the body is not yet formed. They go to meetings, but when they part, they still remain people who know each other only in the flesh. This type of relationship is extremely poor. Paul said, “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.” 2 Cor. 5:16. To know the Lord is to be one spirit with Him. It is love in the Spirit that binds everything together by the power of the body of Christ on earth.
Let us learn to walk carefully in the Church of the living God, in the body of Christ.
