No experience is wasted

“… Yahweh called to him from the rosebush and said, ‘Moses, Moses!'” Exodus 3:4

Yahweh does not let any experience go to waste. He uses them all, the bad and the ugly, to prepare us for the future. Moses grew up in a “foster family”. He lived in the Pharaoh’s palace for 40 years, learning the Egyptian language and customs. That is why Yahweh was able to use him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.

What better preparation for knowing the enemy than growing up among them? But Moses needed some personal lessons, so Yahweh took him to shepherd sheep in the desert for another 40 years. There, Pharaoh’s grandson became a humble shepherd. Nothing humbles you more than a job you’re too good for, especially when your own failures lead you to it.

Those years on the left side of life taught Moses what it means to identify with those who have been hurt.

Finally, at the age of 80, he was ready to fulfill his life’s calling.

Yahweh spoke to him personally from the burning bush, saying: “Moses, Moses!”

It was there, in the most unique place, that Yahweh revealed to Moses his calling to be the liberator of the Israelites. Although Moses was afraid, made excuses and objections, he finally accepted the task.

80 years of preparation had not gone in vain! 40 years in the palace prepared him to speak with Pharaoh, and 40 years as a shepherd in the wilderness prepared him to lead Yahweh’s people through the wilderness to their destiny.

Although you may be going through a difficult time right now, be happy!

Yahweh never lets any experience go to waste. Not ever!

He will use each of them for your benefit and His glory.
