Pastor and writer Francis Chan issued a statement that as more and more people publicly deviate from the Christian faith, pastors should call their congregations to a deep, personal relationship with God and restore “sacredness”, holiness and reverence to worship.
“I see so many people, my friends, who have been in the ministry who just say, ‘I don’t know if I believe in this anymore,’ or leave,” Chan said, “and it’s kind of crazy. We see leaders fall. The world looks at evangelical Christianity as an absolute joke … Day after day you open Instagram, and there again someone announces: “I am no longer a Christian.”
Isaiah 29:13 reads: “… these people draw near to Me with their mouths, and with their lips honor Me, but their heart is far from Me, and their reverence for Me is the study of the commandments of men.”
“In other words, it is not a meeting [with God], ”Chan emphasized, explaining that true, lasting faith does not come from just listening to the message, but from purposeful one-on-one communication with God.”
“Don’t walk away from meeting with God,” he said. -” We must make sure that people meet with Him and that their fear of God is not just a commandment that we have taught them.”
“This is the new season. And all this, when people leave, fight, get angry at everyone and are so self-confident, is because they spend too much time in our presence, in our gospel conversations, conversations, conversations and not enough time before the holy God in reverence, silence, awe and just in recognition of their oneness with Him.”
“The world will only get worse and the persecution will intensify. And when they are alone with Him, is there enough awe and joy in front of Him and fear of Him that they could go through anything?”
“We are trying to keep the people with us, but we must direct people to Him. We must do our best to bring holiness back into our church services. ”
