Prayer of Blaise Pascal

I do not ask You for health or sickness, life or death.

I ask for one thing: use my health, my illnesses, my life and my death for Your glory.

Only You, Lord, know what is good for me. You are the Lord (despotos – Greek), You are the Lord, do with me according to Your will …

Give me, take away from me, submit my will to Yours. Lord, I know only one thing: it is good to follow You but resisting You is bad.

This is my criterion of good and evil. I do not know what is better for me: health or illness, poverty or wealth, I have no right to judge about it. Such knowledge is beyond the reach of either humans or angels.

It is hidden in the depths of Your Providence, before which I revere without trying to penetrate It.
