The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation verifies the mobilized evangelicals because of the refusal to participate in the war

The Investigative Committee of Russia for the first time conducts an investigation under a new article of the Criminal Code due to the refusal of two evangelicals to participate in hostilities.

In Budennovsk, Stavropol region, the military investigation department intends to initiate a criminal case against two parishioners of the Church of the Holy Trinity of the Christian faith of the Evangelical Church, reports Christian Megaportal inVictory with reference to the Telegram channel of attorney Pavla Chikov.

Sergey Tarasov and Maksima Drozdov were called for mobilization on September 24 from the village of Kanevskaya in the Krasnodar region. They were more than a month in a military unit in Budennovsk. They wrote reports to the commander about the refusal to participate in military actions for religious reasons.

They were interrogated by the military commandant’s office, the military police and the military garrison prosecutor’s office.

The investigation is conducted according to new part 2.1 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — failure to comply with the command of the commander in the context of an armed conflict, as well as refusal to participate in hostilities.

The structure of the crime was introduced in the criminal code on September 24, 2022.
