Look at the ant

“Look at the ant,” the great Oriental conqueror Tamerlane (Timur) told his friends.

And told his friends the story that happened to him:

“I was once forced to hide from my enemies in an abandoned building where I sat alone for many hours. Wishing to divert my thoughts from the hopeless situation, I turned my eyes to the ant, which was carrying a kernel of corn larger than itself up a high wall. I counted its attempts to accomplish this feat. The corn fell 69 times to the ground, but the insect presevered. The seventieth time he reached the top. The ant’s accomplishment gave me courage for the moment, and I never forgot that lesson. ”
