We have pain and nothing but pain. Nothing is lovely. And the world is full of darkness. It is as if all the evil energy of the cosmos is concentrated and crushes our soul. Nothing and no one can comfort.
So it was with David. He made a mistake. And the prophet rebuked him.
Sin is such a thing that no matter how much you regret it, no matter how much you want to, you cannot change what you have done. The deed is done and the deed is garbage. Sin.
And the birth of a child turns from joyful
moment to pain. The child dies.
David’s suffering is impossible to describe. Here is the public shaming. Here is a soul burning in the fire of condemnation. Here are loved ones sighing helplessly. Here are happy “friends”. For seven days he lay face down in the mud. Didn’t eat or drink. Prayed. But the child still died.
Is this the end? That’s it? Depression? A string around the neck and the end?
No! No! And again no!
David got up. And he continued his work, and God blessed his life!
My friend, if you find yourself in a critical situation where you have been scorned by others, when your work has been destroyed then do not despair!
Get up! Wash your face. Pray! And move forward!
God bless you!
