Ahead of Easter, Indonesia’s Government Tighten Security at Churches

“Vigilance remains the main thing,” Tjahjanto said on Monday, March 26, at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Building in Jakarta. “Therefore, we will carry out open and preventive security related to religious activities in the future and hope that security and order conditions can be maintained. People can carry out their worship safely, peacefully, and solemnly.”

Tjahjanto confirmed that the government would provide security throughout the Easter 2024 celebrations, starting on Maundy Thursday.

Following the coordination meeting, Tjahjanto also spoke about the potential for acts of terrorism in Indonesia. He ensured that the government would not provide space for terrorists.

Tjahjanto added that the potential for acts of terrorism in Indonesia is currently relatively low.

However, he ensured that the government would be careful.

Pray that Easter in Indonesia will be safe and peaceful.
