Today we will come to the assembly of the saints. And we will receive the Word of God!
The preacher always has the question: what to preach?
God says what to preach to the people.
He knows what they need to hear!
The text suggests two truths:
1. All people are mortal and their beauty passes.
Man is reluctant to hear this truth. He tends to overestimate himself, think a lot about himself and think little about his Creator.
We often extol the powers, skills and abilities of individuals.
Holy and beautiful, he came out of the hand of his Creator as a sample and likeness of God.
But man sinned, lost his likeness to God and fell into spiritual and bodily death.
Here it is like grass, like the color of the field.
Because of sin, our strength has been turned into weakness, knowledge into folly and honor into shame and disgrace.
2. Only the Word of God remains eternal!
This is the second truth that has been confirmed.
The Word of God from the Ages.
Although it was written in the fullness of time, it already existed in the Spirit of God.
The grace-filled Providence of God, contained in the Bible, the Lord had not in time, but in eternity.
This truth tells us
– Rely on the Word of God.
– put aside all human fear.
By the words “Word of God” one should understand as Jesus Christ Himself!
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 1:1
Amen.
